The Royal Marines Rugby league team have been playing Wigan St Patrick's one of the country's leading amateur teams. Over the years Wigan have produced dozens of talented players, including Corporal Liam Elms who was serving with 4-5 Commando when he was killed in Afghanistan 2008. The Rugby club and the Marine's now play each other every year in The Royal Marines Festival, which not only remembers those who have died but also raises money for the Royal Marines Association.
