The Ian Molyneux Plate 2025 - GB Teachers RL v Royal Navy RL

The Ian Molyneux Plate 2025 - GB Teachers RL v Royal Navy RL

Keith Humpleby3 Mar - 14:42

Less than a week to go before the Ian Molyneux Plate fixture returns at Leeds Beckett University

This fixture had been named in memory of the late Lt Cdr Ian Molyneux GM who lost his life in 2011 whilst responding to a firearms incident onboard HMS Astute. This will be the fourth staging of the match with the Brothers securing victories and holding the Plate after the three previous meetings.

With both sides eager to get back on the pitch this fiercely contested match looks like being another cracker. This far out the current spring weather looks to have broken by Saturday but it should be dry for the game albeit cloudy and overcast (don’t quote me on that).
Match details as follows: -
Saturday 8th March
Kick Off 2:30 PM
Leeds Beckett University
Carnegie Sports Centre
Headingley Campus
Leeds
LS6 3QQ

Its free admission to all and the game will be a great 'curtain raiser' for those Rhinos fans who cannot make the trip across the Channel for the Rhinos v Dragons Super League fixture

Both Teams are grateful to Match Sponsors the ‘We Remember Submariners’ Charity.
We Remember Submariners (WRS) is a not-for-profit organisation being granted status as a Registered Charity of England & Wales as of December 2017. WRS raise funds through donations, events and the sale of our unique annual Memorial Pins, plus other items of memorabilia, using the funds to provide wreaths at National Remembrance occasions, as well as wreaths for submarine memorials around the world. WRS also gifts special memorial pins to the immediate relatives of all deceased submariners, these pins are named ‘Moly’ Pins, in honour of Ian Molyneux RN and feature a wreath of red poppies with a single golden poppy in remembrance of each family’s individual loss. The charity will be present at the match should you wish to find out more and have a chat about the work they do on behalf of the Submarine Community
Alternatively visit the WRS website at
https://www.weremembersubmariners.com/

Besides WRS being at the game the Royal Naval Association will be in attendance providing Standard Bearers as well as having their own stand at the game for anyone wishing to get more info on the local RNA

This promises to be a belter of a fixture so if you can make it to the game it would be great to see you all as always
