RMRL return to action this weekend in the annual Elms Darbyshire memorial fixture against Wigan St Patricks

This fantastic event has grown year on year and was set up in honour of Steven Darbyshire and Liam Elms and has also gained support from the families of Ian Molyneux and Stephen Curley, servicemen who lost their lives in active service and were avid rugby league players and supporters. As always the Wigan St Patricks Club has planned a superb day of Rugby League as well as a whole lot more on the fringes.
The days programme on the field is as follows
0930 – Juniors games
1400 – Wigan St Pats v RMRL
1630 – Wigan St Pats v Thatto Heath Crusaders (NCL Premiership Fixture)
As an added bonus the NCL game is to be televised by the team at Rugby AM on Freesports (Sky Channel 424 and Freeview Channel 95)

The St Pats fixture follows on from a great victory by RMRL over the Royal Engineers last week which saw the Corps run out 30-18 winners and got the season off to a great start. Next Up For the Corps after the journey to the North West will be the opening Round of the ‘Alternative’ Inter Services. First up for RMRL will be the RAF Regiment for the Courage Cup, this game will be played at CTCRM (EX8 5AR) on 06 June with a 1430 kick off. Although this is at CTCRM it will be played on the sports fields outside the camp so access is open to all spectators with or without ID! Five weeks later the Corps once again are the hosts at Taunton RFC (TA2 8BU) with the Parachute Regiment being the visitors playing for the Trafalgar Cup. Always a fiercely contested match this year’s fixture will kick off at 1500.

Sandwiched between the two games above, the Corps RL side will play the Army Academy side at another popular event in the North West, the Crosfields RLFC Tom Sephton Trophy Armed Forces Day (WA5 1ET). This fixture will open the day’s proceedings on the field kicking off at 1130 with a further two games to follow in quick succession.

And finally ..... there are places up for grabs in the Royal Navy RL QinetiQ State Of Origin fixture on 14th July at Petersfield RFC, see previous posts for more info.
