Royal Marines Rugby League v The Parachute Regiment
Thursday 1st April 2010
Leeds Headingley Carnegie Stadium
Kick Off 1700.
This game will be the ‘curtain-raiser’ for the Super League Rugby League game between Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls, kick-off 2000.
The Trafalgar Cup was the brain child of WO(2) Chris Richards (Royal Marine) and SSgt
Ryan Swindell (Parachute Regiment) following a Royal Navy v Army Inter-Service Rugby League game. The fixture and the cup were named after The Trafalgar Public House in Aldershot who donated the cup.
The first game was played in Aldershot on 5 Jul 2000; The Royal Marines ran out very comfortable winners 36-0. The fixture was to be played on an annual basis. However, owing to operational commitments during the 02/03 and 07/08 season the cup was not competed for. The Royal Marines currently lead the fixture 4-1 and 1 draw.
