Hammersmith Hills Hoists v Royal Navy Rugby League

Hammersmith Hills Hoists v Royal Navy Rugby League

Keith Humpleby25 Mar - 20:02

Our next fixture sees the Brothers make the relatively short trip to ‘that London’ to take on Hammersmith Hills Hoists at Chiswick RFC

The Brothers on field momentum continues with a fixture ahead of the Easter period with a trip to the capital to face the ‘Hoists’ on their home ground at Chiswick RFC. This will be another tough test for RNRL with plenty of scope to give some newer faces the chance to impress Coach Darren Bamford. We have played the Hammersmith club once before some years ago in London with the hosts coming out on top on the day

As for the Hammersmith club they return to Southern Conference League action the following week taking on London Chargers in the first round of the 2025 season. The ‘Hoists’ start the season looking to retain the SC League title they won in September last year, beating Wests Warriors 12-6 in a tightly contested Grand Final

Your match details then are as follows
Saturday 5th April
Kick Off 5pm

Clues to the clubs background are the green and gold colours and the ‘hoist’ featuring in their logo, The Wikipedia entry for the club explains all!

The Hammersmith Hills Hoists are an amateur rugby league club based in Hammersmith, London. Founded at the end of 2008 by local Australian expats to provide players of all nationalities, backgrounds and abilities the chance to play competitive rugby league in and around London, whilst also expanding their social networks in the process. The club plays in the Southern Conference League – part of the fourth tier of Rugby League nationally.
The last parts of the clubs name are an eponym that seems irrelevant at first glance to rugby – Hills Hoists is an Australian term for sturdy, rotary washing lines, particularly those with an advanced retraction mechanism – such is the nation's pride in these they are enrolled as of lasting heritage value in that country’s national library featuring as roving robots in the 2000 Summer Olympics with one featuring in the club's badge.
