Starting his playing career at Wigan St Patricks followed by time with Salford and Swinton before joining the RN, Bamfs made his debut for RNRL at the 2010 Inter Services. Since then he has been almost ever present for the Senior side at full back or stand-off contributing massively to the most successful period in RNRL history. His contribution to the Brothers went right up to almost his last touch as a player when he converted Sean Houghton’s try from the touch line effectively beating the Army for the Brothers to secure the 2022 Inter Services title. In recognition of not only that winning score but his kicking and tactical play with ball in hand throughout the series led to him being awarded the 2022 Scott Stevenson Player Of The Series title by UKAF Rugby League.
Away from single service RL Bamfs has played throughout his RN career for UKAF RL most notably the World Cup squad of 2013 and most recently a regular in the Presidents Cup squads
A fully qualified coach Bamfs has been shadowing Steve Lockton when not playing and coached the winning Blues side to victory in the 2022 State Of Origin fixture earlier this year. The coaching role is a natural progression for Bamfs, one of the most talented players we have seen in an RNRL shirt, all in involved with RNRL wish him the best of luck as he takes the Brothers into the 2023 season.
Bamfs will be joined in the coaches dug out for the new season by assistant Wata Robanakadavu, another former player, who after a busy period of deployments returns to coaching following a previous stint as Academy coach.
